One of the great things about wanting to "give back" is how simple it can
sometimes be. One such example is our effort to support the organization, Rx
Laughter. The Founder and CEO of Rx Laughter is Sherry Dunay Hilber, a veteran network executive for years before turning her attention to Rx Laughter full-time.

Rx Laughter is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that improves the emotional and physical quality of life using sensitively designed humor-therapy intitiatives in collaboration with physicians and mental health clinicians. We help people of all ages by incorporating funny films, tv shows, improv and stand up comedy videos into medical procedures to relieve stress and pain, and into psychotherapeutic treatment for depression, anxiety and trauma. By "prescribing" funny movies and TV shows from kids favorites such as Shrek  and Shark Tale, to young adult oriented comedy such as Family Guy and The Simpsons Movie, this approach to healing is grounded in the principles of positive psychology and the connection between humor and health.  You can learn more at www.RxLaughter.org.

Rx Laughter does the research, the education, and the treatment, but Writers Give Back can support them by providing them with the materials.

Who better to help this group, than our community?

Over the next few weeks, Writers Give Back will collect DVD's on behalf of Rx Laughter, with the goal of stocking an enormous library of comedy, from which they can draw, to help heal patients through laughter.
